Robotics playing football

Federation of international Robot Soccer Association organized a sport ‘Robot Football'. In 1995 in Korea robot began playing football. From 1996 onwards, international championships have been held every year. Robotics team of different countries participate in these championships.

Football might just be a game for us, but for robotics and for programmers who operate it, it is so hard. One of the researchers working on this project, Grzegorz Ficht says:

“Walking is natural to humans, but robots need very complex algorithms to walk around and to just keep their balance.”

It aims to create a team of robots capable of beating a human side at football by 2050.Robots in the small size (almost 15 inches tall) Robocup soccer league face off. These ‘Rhoban’ robots, built by students at the University of Bordeaux, took first place in their division in 2017 competition.

The Robocup is a contraction of the competition‘s full name, the Robot Soccer World cup. The Robocup organizers are hoping to push the state of the art by setting an ambitious, long-term target. The benefit to society will not be the world beating robot footballers, but the technology advances that are made along the way that can be used for more useful purposes.

Robots cannot run in the football game, even they can’t jump. After kicking the ball they often fall over like toddlers hitting a wall at the end of a smarties binge. You can understandClick here to watch the video by watching this video.

In the near future, we should expect to see artificial intelligence being used more to change sports performance for the better.
