Kevin Poulsen:
Kevin Poulsen is an
American hacker and is known as black hat hacker. He became famous when
in 1990 he hacked the telephone calls of a radio station 102.5 kIISFM. He
challenged to be the 102nd caller and won prize of Porsche (sport
car).
Because of his illegal
hacking activities he was arrested in April 1991. After his release from
the jail he stopped working as black hat hacker and pursued his career in
journalism. He became popular editor of Wired News in 2005.
Gary McKinnon:
Gary McKinnon is a well
known hacker who was born in Scotland and uses the name ‘Solo’ in
his hacking career. In 2002 he hacked the military computer and that is
known as the world’s biggest hack of military computer. He deleted many
important files and hacked many passwords files from the Army and NASA’s
computers. He displayed a message on the military website “Your security
is crap”.
He was arrested in
London in 2002 because of critical computer crimes and was released almost
after 10 years. He had committed so computer that if extradited to US
Government then had to bear 70 years jail punishment.
Kevin Mitnick:
Kevin Mitnick is the
world’s best and richest hacker born in America. He stole many software
of Digital Equipment Corporation and was sent to jail in 1988. He hacked many
computer networks and passwords and was found in many wire and electronic
frauds.
He was arrested by FBI in 1995 with
many closed cellular phones he used to hide himself. He was released from
Prison in 2000. After this, he started providing paid security to companies and
also FBI. Then he became an author and best consultant for computer security.
Adrian Lamo:
Adrian lamo is a famous
hacker who was born in Massachusetts, US. He was really concerned about
internet security and also helped many companies in achieving high level
security. In 2002 he hacked the New York Times. He also hacked Microsoft
computers, Yahoo and was involved in many other computer crimes.
In 2003 when he
was arrested, he felt embarrassed for all his bad activities. He became more
popular when in 2010 he reported a soldier Chelsea Manning to
Army criminal investigators Chelsea Manning gave wiki leaks an authorize access
to very important and sensitive US Government data. He died at the age of 37 in
2018.
Jonathan James:
Jonathan James was an American
hacker. He was the first young prison for cybercrime in the United States. In
1999 US Department of Defense (DOD) faced a number of intrusions to private
companies, school system, as well as DOD itself and even NASA. He was a
Jonathan James who creates all these intrusions at the age of 15.
Jonathan broke NASA security and accessed 13 computers
from where he stole software and information worth $1.7 million, which caused
the agency to shut down their systems for 21 days, an action that would cast
them $41,000 in repairs and losses. In later he wrote letter of apology to NASA
and the department of Defense. At the age of 25 Jonathan James was found dead
with a gunshot wound to the head, investigators indicate that it had been a
suicide.
