Someone posted a fake image of HEC website that it is promoting all university students, and then the news got viral everywhere on the social media that HEC website is hacked by hackers. HEC was being mocked by everyone. Students were admiring hacker. HEC website got slow and it became difficult for the server to manage the requests when many people were accessing the website in search of that news.

But the question which arises here is “Was HEC hacked in reality?”  No actually it was not hacked. Someone downloaded the page from the HEC website into his/her computer. When a page is downloaded in the computer, you can modify the page by changing its color, pictures, text or whatever you want. But that changes occur only in that downloaded page and stays only in that person’s computer. It has no impact on online website and its server.

Someone just did the same thing and shared the fake picture on social media. Website is considered only hacked when its online server is hacked and changes are made in the online version of website. And HEC online version was also unchanged and has no such promoting news, then how can we say that website is hacked.

One more thing which tells that image was fake is that promotion news was shared on HEC Services page which only tells about HEC services. Such announcements are declared on announcement page of HEC not services page.
